In the latest OFC Table (spring 2022) I read the Eco-Friendly Co-op Shopping article. There is a suggestion to make cloth bags out of t-shirts and a stapler. I was horrified at the image of sharp pointy staples in my food!! Maybe safety pins as a safer alternative?? If not just sewing the bags?
