SUMMARY:Metabolism for Grownups: What Changes After 40 and What Still Works?
DESCRIPTION:A realistic\, nutrition-focused look at metabolism in midlife. \nFeeling like your body has changed in ways that don’t quite make sense? As we move into our 40s\, 50s\, and beyond\, shifts in hormones\, muscle mass\, sleep\, stress\, and blood sugar regulation can all affect energy\, appetite\, body composition\, and overall health. The good news is that nutrition strategies can make a meaningful difference — without extreme dieting or rigid food rules. \nIn this class\, Registered Dietitian Laura Foster will explore:\n• What actually changes in perimenopause and menopause\n• Why weight and body composition often shift in midlife\n• How protein\, fiber\, meal timing\, and blood sugar balance support metabolism\n• Nutrition strategies that help maintain muscle\, energy\, and fullness\n• Easy meal ideas and practical ways to build balanced plates\n• Common nutrition myths that can make midlife health more confusing than it needs to be \nThis class focuses on realistic\, evidence-based nutrition approaches that support long-term health\, energy\, and metabolic well-being. You’ll leave with a better understanding of your body and practical tools you can start using right away. \nLaura Foster (she/her) is a Registered Dietitian and nutrition therapist with a master’s degree in nutrition and a private practice focused on practical\, evidence-based care for women in midlife and beyond. She specializes in perimenopause and menopause\, insulin resistance and prediabetes\, gut health\, GERD\, and metabolic health. \nLaura combines whole-foods-based nutrition with current research on blood sugar balance\, eating patterns\, body composition\, and healthy aging. Her approach is collaborative\, realistic\, and individualized — helping clients work with their unique body\, schedule\, symptoms\, and stage of life rather than against them. \nShe creates a nonjudgmental space where people can feel supported\, understood\, and empowered to make sustainable changes that improve energy\, confidence\, metabolic health\, and overall well-being. \nREGISTER HERE

It may be for general protection\, increasing your capacity for giving and receiving love\, healing from painful wounds\, an object of remembrance of a loved one\, a reminder of a commitment you are making to yourself\, etc. These may be worn\, displayed on a wall\, placed on an altar\, whatever feels most supportive and meaningful to you.  \nI will provide some dried herbs\, salt\, and a few other items that you may choose from to put inside\, but I also encourage you to bring your own items. These could be small gemstones that feel aligned with your intention\, pieces of paper with writing\, anything that feels meaningful to you\, even if it might not make logical sense to you\, try to let your intuition guide you.  \nDuring the class we will spend time embroidering an image onto the fabric for your pouch\, stitching the fabric into a pouch\, filling it with your items\, and adding cord and tassels if you’d like additional adornments. There will be an invitation for us to share with each other about our intentions as we work.  \nŽiara is a queer artist\, creative creature\, nature lover\, and budding ceremonialist.
