Perennial Food Source Workshop, Featuring Chestnuts
October 30, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
$7What if food was falling down from sky every year? Chestnuts are one of the closest things to the gift from the sky! Perennials -such as nuts and fruit trees, kales, strawberries, and asparagus- are great food sources that bless us year after year. In this workshop we will explore how we can partner with perennials to build up our food resiliency. In particular, we will learn multiple ways to cook chestnuts.
Historically, chestnuts were the staple food for many indigenous peoples of north America. They are also widely enjoyed in various culinary traditions in Europe and Asia, both as sweets and savory dishes.
This is the second in the series of workshop by Everyone’s Food Sovereignty School to explore why food sovereignty matters to everyone and how we can strengthen community-based food resiliency. Every workshop includes four elements: skill development (cooking, gardening, etc), network building, knowledge sharing, and the relationship-with-land cultivation. You are welcome to join the entire series or a single workshop.
