Bicycle Series #1: Riding Through the Rainy Season

Are you a fair-weather cyclist who is rainy season curious? Riding through our rainy season can keep you outside and moving, feeling the cool air, watching the changing colors and shifts in light. It’s a great way to slow down and appreciate what’s around us. In this class you will learn strategies for staying cozy, dry and safe through the wet season, discuss lower stress routes around town, how to use transit to fast forward your bike ride, and ways to keep your bike running smoothly through the season.
Ami Puri is a bike educator with Intercity Transit’s Walk N Roll program and loves helping all ages of folks learn to get around by bike.
Duncan Green has been a coop member for decades, mostly does his shopping runs by bike, and led the Bicycle Community Challenge for 16 years!
Gail Wootan (she/her) has been a bike commuter for almost 30 years in several cities, with 15 of those years in Olympia. She rides all year round (unless it’s icy) and primarily uses an electric bike for commuting to make it up the West Side hill. She loves multi-day trips on her trusty non-electric steed “Ol’ Pink,” thinks everyone can learn how to change a flat (bike flat that is), and thinks dresses are perfect biking attire. She has also been known to overload her bike after a shopping trip – good thing coat pockets are the perfect size for canned food!
In this time of increasing costs, we have decided to move to a pay what you can model so that no one is left out due to lack of funds. Our class supply costs are also increasing, so we ask you to make a donation according to your ability and help us keep our classes sustainable and vibrant. Suggested donations are from $5-$50.
